Legendary Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis has passed away at the age of 82, reports the Mercury News. He had been in failing health for some time, but attended the Raiders' most recent game, a loss to the New England Patriots.
Davis had only missed two Raiders games since 1995, when the team was moved back to Oakland from LA. A few years before that, he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1992. He's the only member to have been an assistant coach, head coach, general manager, owner and commissioner over the course of his career.
Davis had previously said that his wife Carol and son Mark would take over the team upon his death, and according to SB Nation, Mark will inherit the team.
Under Davis' control, the team won 15 division championships, four conference championships and won the Super Bowl in 1976, 1980 and 1983. They most recently lost to Tampa Bay in 2002.
